In English, to make a promise is to “give someone your word” that you will do something. With the Persian word magnets, you can give someone your word literally!
You: “Of course I’ll do it.”
They: “How can I be sure?”
You: “You have my word.”
Shake their hand. Leave a word magnet in their palm.
Preferably not the word “دروغ”
In Persian قول دادن is giving your word. qowl dAdan. Just as in English, “word” means “word” and “promise”, so does قول in Persian. Except it only means the “word” that is a promise. Not the “word” as in, “use your words.”
